About The Purview Practitioner
Built by a practitioner, for practitioners.
I'm Luke. I've worked in tech for over 10 years, with the last few spent specialising in Microsoft security and specifically Microsoft Purview - deploying information protection, DLP, and data governance across organisations of all sizes.
I built The Purview Practitioner because I kept running into the same problem: there's loads of content out there explaining what Microsoft Purview is, but almost nothing showing how it actually works when you deploy it in a real business.
Microsoft Learn is great for feature documentation. But it doesn't tell you what happens when you turn on auto-labelling for 500 users, or how to design a DLP policy that doesn't generate 10,000 false positives, or why your Insider Risk Management alerts are firing on your CEO's PA.
The goal is to build a central hub for anyone looking to use Purview in a real business context. Not just my experience - a community of practitioners helping each other deploy and operate Purview better, sharing what works and what doesn't, and identifying issues before they become problems.
What you'll find here
- •Interactive Tools to design label taxonomies, simulate DLP policies, and compare license tiers
- •Scenarios & Guides from real deployments showing what Purview looks like in production
- •Free Assessments to identify your governance gaps and get a personalised action plan

If you've got your own experience to share - a guide, a scenario, or a gotcha from your deployment - you can submit articles directly from the Learn page. Everything is reviewed before publishing, and you get credited as the author.
If you're deploying Purview, preparing for Copilot, or just trying to get your data governance sorted, you're in the right place.
